Ferrari And A1GP Band To Form A2GP Series |

First we found out that Ferrari was talking with A1GP and than we found out that the Ferrari international racing series has announced that the two racing outfits have signed a six-year contract with Maranello. Ferrari was bound to make some changes in hopes of improving their race cars.
The terms of the agreement have Ferrari supplying the V8 engines for all the national teams competing in the series starting the season after next, when the current deal with Lola and Zytek expires. In addition to powering the new cars, Ferrari will also consult on the design of the chassis, which will be built by an as-yet undisclosed third party.
The deal gives Ferrari a de facto feeder series of its own. A1GP chairman Tony Teixeira also announced the formation of a second, lower-rung regional series to be called A2GP – taking a possible similar relationship as the Atlantic series to Champ Cars – with which Ferrari will also collaborate, supplying detuned versions of the engine. The deal should give Ferrari a place to field up-and-coming younger drivers and bring in extra revenue, while lending the open-wheel series added prestige on the world motorsports stage

Running on rice - Honda concepts look to future
The Honda stand at the Tokyo auto show from October 24 will feature two futuristic concepts – and a look at where the next generation of cars will get their fuel.
The CR-Z (the design team says it stands for "Compact Renaissance – Zero) follows the Remix concept first seen at the 2006 LA auto show and the Small Hybrid Sports Concept that debuted at Geneva in March 2007, exploring the potential of a light, two-seater, petrol-electric hybrid sports car.
The front is low, dominated by the bumper with its gaping air intakes, while smooth lines across the glass roof and rear of the car minimise drag. It has tubular tail lights, high-visibility wing mirrors, LED headlights, fin-shaped sidelights and 19" alloy rims.
The high-tech cabin has blue, neon-like finish across the fascia and centre console; the sports seats are trimmed with mesh material on simple metal frames.

Blue Devil, Z07, Sting Ray, SS or ZR-1, no matter what you like to call GM's latest attempt at a supercar but one thing is for sure, it will be impressive. Its official debut is scheduled for January's Detroit NAIAS show so these images are likely to be the last before we can show you the final product.Power for the beast comes from the new LS9 engine. The LS9 is a 6.2 liter supercharged small block V8 and puts out between 600 and 650 hp. The supercharged V8 will utilize an integrated intake manifold intercooler, and it’s expected to run a 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds.Weight will be reduced in comparison to the current Z06 by using more carbon fibre in the body work (notice the A and B pillars and the roof) and by utilizing a polycarbonate 'window' in the hood. Other body panels like the rocker panels might be made from carbon fibre too. A wider and taller lip spoiler, it now spans the car, will be featured on the new Z super Vette in order to provide more downforce when the driver reaches 200 mph or more.Over the past few months rumors have surfaced that GM might switch tire manufacturer, and the spy photographer can now comfirm that GM is indeed using Michelin (and not Goodyear) for this prototype. On closer inspection, we found the car sitting on 335/25Z/20 size tires! Behind the wheels we found a huge set of cross-drilled rotors and an equally large set of calipers leading us to believe the car will feature a carbon-ceramic brake set-up.Production of the Super Vette will commence mid 2008 as a 2009 model with annual production numbers expected to be around 1500 to 1750. Pricing is expected to be around USD 100,000.

Fiorano after the circuit Ferrari uses to hone the performance of its track and road cars; GTB as in Gran Turismo Berlinetta after the most famous Ferrari berlinettas ever built; and 599 to reflect the displacement of its V12 engine divided by 10.
This new all-aluminium two-seater model was designed with several specific objectives in mind: to surpass the driving pleasure of such renowned models as the F40, to guarantee stunning performance courtesy of its highly innovative content and technology transfers from the F1, and to deliver superior standards of roominess, comfort, ergonomics and safety.
The result is the absolute pinnacle of achievement in terms of thoroughbred Ferrari sportiness and technology.
The new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 3.7 seconds and boasts a top speed in excess of 330 km/h. However, it is still the new model's uniquely innovative content that guarantees superior driving pleasure, handling and sportiness.
