At The Model Spot we have decided to add a new category to our stock status. If you see the symbol above we will be accepting pre-orders for products, for a number of reasons. This status will be allocated to products that have not even been manufactured yet but are scheduled for release by our international suppliers. The aim of this is to book those limited edition items of which there is to be a small quantity produced to avoid disappointment.

The procedure is, if you see this status please place your order but make no payment at this stage. The idea is for us to gauge quantities to book with the supplier beforehand to guarantee that you will be first in line for this product. This will allow us to book the item for you and to discuss the payment when the goods are ready to ship. We hope this facility will allow you to grab those rareties that so often miss us in South Africa due to their limited runs. We will begin to add some amazing products now with this status that are due to be released in the not to distant future for an example the new Autoart Koenigsegg and CMC Porsche 901 in Light Ivory that will be available shortly.

All the regular visitors at The Model Spot will have seen some substantial increases in our pricing of products across the range. This is not done by us but forced onto us. All manufacturers have had substantial increases in pricing and a few are still coming.

Autoart is undoubtably our most popular product range. They have had 2 major price increases this year alone some products that would have been R700 a year ago have almost doubled in some cases to R1250. There are many reasons for this. The main being all the changes in labour conditions and remuneration in China as well as an increase in raw material costs and fuel and currency changes.

Almost all Diecast products are manufactured in China even if their companies are based in other countries. There are a rare few that manufacture product outside of China.

At The Model Spot we source all our Autoart product from the various international Autoart distributors. So the Good News is you will be able to source your favourite model range from us as usual. Autoart has some wonderful new products coming through and a great lineup planned for 2008/2009 so please check back here regularly.
